Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Sssshhhh don’t tell Christmas.
Well they are more like fraternal twins. I love them both the same, except I love Thankie more in November and Chrissie more in December and look forward to both of them all year long. 😉
I seriously LOVE living in a country that stops everything one day just to give thanks.
Regardless of the anthropological reasons why this holiday came to be, we have it now and I love it.
I know you are busy this week (or how about always?).
Today’s post will be short (and filled with gratitude of course!)
First – THANK YOU for reading right here and now – this blog and so many others that I have written over the years.
I love and appreciate you so much and I just wish you mountains of everything awesome!
I know the holidays can be wonderful and heartwarming and also overwhelming and stressful. Sometimes one right after the other.
Yes there are awful things happening the world right now. Those things make me sad and angry. Then I think about people. The people who help, who pray, who extend a hand and a heart and those people make me hopeful and happy and proud to be a member of humanity.
When I ask myself what I can from where I sit, I realize, I can love now. I can give thanks now. I can be a person who extends love and gratitude and peace.
I cannot solve the world’s problems. And I have a feeling you can’t either. But together, together we can take a stand for love and light and hope.
So that’s my challenge to you to Celebrate Thanksgiving. Remember the love. Remember the blessings. Connect with the people who make you grateful you are alive.
And set aside some time to really get into the spirit of grace, generosity and thanksgiving.
To help you do that, quickly and easily, I put together a roundup of my favorite Thankie posts.
Here we go…
For a quick read of 10 of my favorite gratitude quotes click here.
I invite you to set aside time for my favorite gratitude practice – writing down 100 things I am grateful for. I made a gratitude play list on YouTube along with a pretty PDF you can download if you don’t have a journal handy.
You can read why I love it so much and download the journal here. Then block an hour on your calendar sometime over the weekend to play some inspiring music and bathe in gratitude, as my coach Christine likes to say.
It feels so good to just let gratitude really wash all over you. Which is why I don’t wait for Thanksgiving to use gratitude as my own personal rocket fuel.
I wrote all about that for my friends at the Loveumentary here.
And finally if you have family stress over who goes where on what day over the holidays, read my story on how my bestie and I created our own holiday to honor our families and still spend time together during the festive season. You can find that story over with my friends from the #staymarried blog here.
And now for 10 totally random things I am super grateful for….
- My husband’s laugh.
- My healthy, happy, nerdy obsession with everything Arrow (yes, as in, the Green one).
- The power of words to heal and nourish.
- Shellac nail polish. Yes. Seriously.
- Cashmere.
- Girlfriends who keep me sane.
- Chocolate. Dark and Almondy.
- Hugs.
- That happy feeling I get when I cross something off my checklist.
- You.
Happy Thanksgiving!
And for bonus Thankie points, tell me in the comments, what are some totally random things you are grateful for?
