The LOVE Exercise – a quick pick-me-up to use whenever, wherever
Fabulous things happen on Facebook all the time! One of my friends, the fabulous Kelly Epperson, former IRS Agent, current Brilliant Book Coach posted a quick and easy love exercise that I fell in love with and asked her for permission to share with you on the blog.
Before I turn you over to Kelly, if you are feeling adventurous – grab the nearest pen and scrap of paper and do it along with us…Here we go……
The LOVE Exercise By Kelly Epperson
We all could use a quick de-stress tool, so…. Let’s talk love!
What do you love? It’s a good exercise for me, and you, to dwell a bit in our many loves. The past few weeks have been a wee bit crazy in our external world so let’s recharge our batteries with an internal love fest.
Grab a piece of paper, or open a fresh word doc and just brain dump. No thinking, no ordering, no judging. Set your timer for 30 seconds and fill in the blank I LOVE …..
Are you ready? Let’s do it together. 30 seconds. GO!
I LOVE…
My husband
My kids
His kids
My folks
His folks
Our siblings
My magical unicorn
My joy money pouch
My phone
My rings
Wow. 30 seconds goes fast or I type slow. But ten things that I love in 30 seconds feels good. And most was obvious stuff, for sure. But my heart feels lighter already. How about you? Did you rattle off the easy stuff too? Or did some silly stuff arise? Or serious deep stuff?
Let’s do another round. I LOVE…the internet; Chapstick; Tissues; Womanspace; Speaking; Writing; my clients; Spellcheck; Google; computers; my desk; candles.
Thirty seconds and twelve more lovey doveys. It is not about the number of things you write down. It’s about shifting your energy. The original post I had written today was too weighty and didn’t do anything to move us forward. So I decided to scrap it. Such is life. We spend a lot of time rehashing and dwelling in the muck. When you start to feel pulled down, do a quick 30 seconds of the “I LOVE” exercise. You can spend the whole time simply repeating I LOVE MY CAT. If it feels good, do it.
That’s the point. To refresh. You can take a 30-second love break anywhere anytime, in your head. Feeling annoyed at work or in traffic or the grocery store? Do a mental “I LOVE” exercise and you will shift. “I love Tic Tacs. I love reading tabloid headlines. I love lip gloss. I love that lady’s coat….” Just standing in the checkout line is ripe with love possibilities.
If you can devote two minutes a day, four 30-second rounds, just because it’s fun, to the love exercise, you will be able to face the day with a healthier perspective. You will be more grounded to the real you, you will be more connected to your true essence and thus be able to see that in others. It’s worth a shot. Let’s do one more together and then you are on your own.
I LOVE… My readers! Writing this missive every week. England. Our apartment in Aix. French wine. My chocolate chip brioche loaf form Aldi. My fuzzy boots.
Sending you love! Pass it on!
