Making time for yourself does not take away from your marriage, it fuels it.
Your husband didn’t marry a Wife, he married a Woman. What does that even mean?
It means bringing your Whole Self to your marriage is what it’s all about!
Same goes for him – his having passions and interests and fully expressing himself in those things does not mean he has stopped loving you, it means he is human.
We are NOT supposed to have EVERY SINGLE NEED MET in ONE RELATIONSHIP.
Let me repeat that – we are not supposed to have every single need met in one relationship.
It is not healthy. It puts soooooooooo much pressure on the relationship – that what happens? It bursts like a pressure cooker…which is what we don’t want.
So what do we do with that information? We take a moment to look at our desires. The things we want to experience and we look at when, how and where, we can work them into our life.
You can start with something small – such as having coffee with a friend you haven’t seen in ages or joining a gym. What have you been missing in your life that you are feeling a craving for?Pay attention to those little nudges. It could be as simple as taking half an hour to read a book that inspires you or makes you laugh. Or as complicated as taking up a new hobby that requires you to…gasp! Leave the house! ๐ In order to participate. What happens often is then we feel GUILT for taking time for self as if doing that is removing something from our relationship instead of adding to it.
But that guilt is misguided….YES we need to prioritize our relationships for sure, but along in that process we need to include time to BE and GROW into the best version of ourselves.
And we cannot do that if we are never on our own To Do List.
I know this is a common place where people get stuck – THIS is WHY I am writing about it todayย .
If you have tried other things already and are ready to get unstuck – let’s have a conversation about Coaching and whether I can help you. Click here for that.
Now, repeat after me –Making time for my Self does not take away from my marriage, it fuels it.
